Default Re-Hire agreement after layoff?

I am recent graduate(graduate DEC 08) and started working for a engine company in Jan 09. But I was laid off after just 15 days in Feb. My release agreement says that the company will not consider me for rehire anytime henceforth anywhere around the world. Incidently this company has a big facility in my hometown in India and I am ineligible for rehire there as well. Can anyone tell me what happens if I refuse to sign the release agreement?(The severance sum for me is very small since I worked for only 15 days). Can the company blacklist me for re-hire with other companies as well?It is a company policy. My name goes in the list of layoffs that the company maintains. Everytime I apply for a new position, my name shows up in the list and triggers a no hire response.

Ask about the re-hire policy.I have never heard or a company that said you could never be rehired....unless you were not a good employee...they would have a hard time proving after only 15 days.It may be a blanket policy...see if you can exempt, DO NOT SIGNYou would do better to quit.

In 110% agreement w/ the previous poster. DO NOT SIGN. That is absolutely ridiculous! After only 15 days of employment?! Not only would I not sign DO NOT even use them as a reference. It would make no sense anyway to put a job on a resume that lasted only 2 weeks. Do not worry about being blacklisted. They are not going to call up all companies in this field to tell them do not hire so and so. Move on and do not sign.
