Long story short.. What are your opinions?
You set up the meeting on business terms, not personal, so you're correct, you can't expect to be present at these meetings. If you were present, it might look as though your employer had a personal, and therefore suspect, interest in such a consulting company. These people MUST not look as though they're doing anything under the table, so I am not surprised that you're being excluded. Our company actually has a pretty strict policy about such things and that the person who does the recommending can't be involved in the transactions for the fact that it would look suspicious.So, don't be offended, they're just covering their tails, as they legally should.
