hello, i am an 18 yrs old who has some sort of flu/cold. My symptoms consist of coughing, mucous, sore throat (almost gone now!) and runny nose. I feel really hot at times and I start to sweat a thin layeri have had the biggest headache, since saturday night, 2 days ago, and it is still throbbing on my right side of my head. i just took a bayer women's low dose 81mg aspirin, but when i went on the company's site, they said WarningsReye's syndrome: Children and teenagers should not use this medicine for chicken pox or flu symptoms before a doctor is consulted about Reye's syndrome, a rare but serious illness reported to be associated with aspirin. i'm scared - i'm sick and i had no idea. my mom just gave me the aspirin. should i be worried?oh and i've also been taking liquid nyquil multi-symptom for night and the multi-symptom dayquil during the dayis it still safe to take these? i read the side-effects of these and it said a common side effect is a headache..oh and i only took 2 of the bayer pillswell the last time i took nyquil was around 2AM this morning and now it is 4:15PM where i amso i haven't had any exposure to the nyquil/dayquil yet..

the aspirin was not in a large enough dose to bring on Reye's so don't worry about it, just don't take anymore aspirin, use Tylenol instead. The Nyquil is about 90 proof alcohol, so you are hungover after you use it at night, and the Dayquil has a lot of psuedaphed in it which will also cause headache.Suggest you leave those nostrums alone and simply push your fluid intake to two liters a day.

Nyquil also contains tylenol (acetaminophen) so you really don't need additional tylenol, ibuprofen or aspirin, you're setting yourself up for overdose. Meantime 1 81mg aspirin isn't going to do much to relieve either symptoms or fever so might as well forget that but one dose that size shouldn't be a problem.
