Default My New Lovebirds Will Not Eat, What Should I do?

Hi!!!, I just bought two beautiful lovebirds (7/26/09) at a pet store filled with exotic, beautiful, and mesmerizing birds in Georgia. Upon arriving at the store I wanted two lovebirds…I saw them, I wanted them, I got them!…along side another small exotic bird. Two lovely birds, that remind me of the love I never had or will have (god is so mean to me!). Anyway, lets get back to my bird problem and away from my personal problems. We have five small birds at our home, one which is exotic (we bought that new male exotic bird to mate with our female bird, although I think she might be a lesbian, cause she hates male birds SHE KILLED AND ASSISINATED HER PREVIOUS COMPAINION…she is bad azz!) Anyway , I got my Lovebirds, set them in my room, temperature was good. Today I came home from work, during the day we set the birds outside in the shade, I noticed that the new male exotic bird was already accustom to his atmosphere (he was singing, dancing, pooping, eating, jacking off, writing a novel…second one on the way entitled: “over the hills and far away, the story of the bird” ) damn! So, I figured my love birds would have had made a platinum album by now (maybe even their own late night talk show, with special guest me!) , I noticed that both of the birds were bunched up against the side of their cage (they have a pretty big cage) and they were still hesitant with any movement, noise or alarming situation. I understood that part. But I was told that they were not eating at all. I was shocked…bout to cry and bitch slap somebody HARD!. Anyway I cooled myself down, I went online, and researched my birds, how to tame them, what they like to eat (not just seeds but, of course they also enjoy small veggies and fruits), But I noticed that there was not a link to why they don’t eat. I WOULD HATE LIFE JUST 4x MORE…IF I FOUND THESE BIRDS (who are known to live for 15-20 years) DEAD IN A COUPLE OF DAYS…IN MY ROOM. That would really suck, cause I don’t have any money left for them die on me!SO PLEASE CAN SOMEONE EXPLANE HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE THEM TO GET USE TO THEIR NEW ENVORNIMENT…AND WHEN WILL THEY EAT…that food coast my $3.00 a pound, if they die, I will be force to eat bird food for a month!! Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh and uh (And if you’re a pretty girl, who’s into slayer, the beatles, led Zeppelin, birds, loves to write, take pictures, arty, long walks in the park, in GA!…u know u can hit me up, I would love to be your little lovebird u know…in a cage together, with like a swing some water, u know so won’t dehydrate and die…and stuff)…ANYWAYS PLEASE HELP OMG CALL 911 TELL THEM TO COME AND TAKE LOOK!. they are just up on upper portion of the cage they dont even rest on the sticks WTF! They gave me the broken ones!!!

OK really if our going to write a long ting like this plz don't and really your over reacting if the don't eat just take them to the vet they will start eating once the vet person has a look and if they don't take the female and ether kill or get her a new cage.

oh boy. well, congrats on your new birds! and, as for the not eating thing, it's pretty common for birds when they're in a new environment. just leave them be, and they'll eat when they're hungry. but, they won't do this until they feel relatively safe. so, to make the process quicker, avoid moving their cage. bringing it in and out of doors will only stress them more in an already new home. once they've acclimated, and they're eating steadily, you can try bringing the cage outside again. also, you sound really excited about your new pets. glad to hear it, for sure, but make sure you're still remaining calm in their presence. until they adjust, any sudden movements or loud noises from you can alarm them. but, don't worry. just be a little patient and they'll come around!

these birds should be in separate cages until they get used to each other and you know they like each other. you can - when you out them in separate cages also offer them fresh fruit and vegetables. when you do get some money buy a bird book. birds for dummies would beexcellent and i am not being sarcastic-it would be a great book for you.
